There are so many brilliant amazing drummers on YT but I've never yet heard one play this intro right. They all seem to miss the final stroke on the snare before the transition to the toms. I think this is the first time it is correct. Although your toms aren't quite tuned the same as Neil's I think the strokes and patterns are all there. Hats off to you - amazing. This intro has been going round in my head pretty much for 45 yrs since I first bought the 'Signals' album (yes, I am THAT old!)! I can play it only about 80% right - and that's on a very good day! And only on an electronic kit which is kind of cheating because drumming is much easier on an electronic kit and it also flatters a player - it makes me sound much better than I really am!

Am I the only one who thinks no one hears hi hats in a mix? It's something the drummer hears, but once it's in a song it's too quiet for anyone to hear - even with headphones 🎧. I wonder what a drum kit with no hi hat would sound like...

Gear does matter but any drums with old abused heads wont sound good. You can buy a 2,000$ snare and if the head isnt seated properly. It sounds horrible... drums, you have so many options. But the only drums ive found that i dont respect are cb drums. Those are just garbage.

Hi Stephen, I’ve really been enjoying your online drum lessons! I’m truly excited to embark upon this journey. I recently got a drum kit for my birthday. However, it is an electronic drum set. I live in a two family house in a very tight beach community. Everyone tries to be respectful of each other, as far as noise. I’ve only seen two of your online lessons, but I went back to the first lesson to hone my skills. You can teach an old dog new tricks! In my country (Czech Republic) in my generation (I was born in 60s), was not possible so that girls study drums at the basic musical school. Only boys were accepted to that class...😞

E-drums is not just Roland! I own a Roland TD12 KVX but will probably trade it in for a GEWA or EFnote kit soon. GEWA is working on improved cymbals which will be presented within a couple of weeks.
